Margaret Sue Tucker

Margaret Sue Tucker, 90, of Springville, Alabama, passed away on March 30, 2024, after a brief illness. Her loved ones surrounded her as she took her final breath on this earth. Margaret was born on April 20, 1933, to George Linton and Clemmie Lee Martin in Shelby, Alabama. She graduated from Shelby County High School in 1951, where she played the trombone under the Friday night lights. She was also quite the athlete, enjoying softball, basketball, and water skiing in her free time. With a diploma in hand, Margaret moved to Springville with her family after graduation. In 1955, Margaret would wed Alvin J. Tucker. She became a mother in 1958 when her first daughter, Susan Marie, was born. Four years later, she added another daughter, Judith Lee, to the family. After nine years as a family of four, a surprise pregnancy completed her brood with the birth of a son, Lemuel Barry, in 1971. She loved motherhood and cheered her children on as they married and had families of their own. However, her motherly influence was not limited to her own children. Margaret nurtured countless youngsters during her twelve years at Terry’s Daycare in Springville. To know Margaret Sue was to love her. Her cotton-white hair and magnetic personality made her stand out in any crowd. She was the original Barbie girl with her love for all things pink. She loved traveling to the family’s old homestead in Shelby, Alabama, where she would spend time fellowshipping with her sister, brothers, and extended family. On sunny summer days, you could find her taking a dip in the blue hole. She was always available to support her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their pursuits. Margaret’s church family at Spring Valley Baptist Church was a huge part of her life. Her macaroni casserole and chocolate chip bundt cake were the stars at many Sunday school potlucks. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Benny, and her brother-in-law, Dean Arthur Jones. Margaret is survived by her brothers Lynn (Joanne) and Forrest (Janice) and sister Julia Jones; daughters Susan White (Danny) and Judy Wallace (Mitch) and her son Barry Tucker (Danielle); six grandchildren Ashley Wallace, Jeremy Gilbert (Ginger), Susanne Carpenetti (Billy), Olivia, and Gunner Tucker; five great-grandchildren Dalton, Jackson, Kinslee, Wesley, and Ellison Kate; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services honoring Margaret will take place on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. The family will greet visitors at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Her final interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby, Alabama. The family requests that donations be made to Spring Valley Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
