James Dalmous McCarty, Jr.

James “Jimbo” McCarty Jr, 63, of Springville, AL, departed this life on the afternoon of Tuesday October 1st, 2024. He passed peacefully at his home, enjoying the early autumn weather on his front porch with his beloved pet ‘Mama Kitty”. James, known as Jimbo to all who knew and loved him, was born June 11th, 1961 to his parents Jimmy & Vada McCarty. He and his sister Debra grew up in Springville where he attended Springville High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1979. Jimbo worked at Marmon Keystone, in Tarrant AL, where he was a faithful employee of 34 years. But life was not all work for Jimbo, he spent his free time enjoying the company of his many friends and family. Whether it was an afternoon on the golf course, a quick trip to Mississippi, cheering on his favorite team, the Auburn Tigers, or cutting the grass, Jimbo knew how to have a good time. An animal lover from the start, you could always expect to be greeted by one of his many four legged companions when visiting his home. A trait of his he passed in abundance to his children. Jimbo loved his community and wanted to see the “ mom and pop” places thrive and so always supported local businesses over big box or corporate stores. If anyone ever needed him, the time or the place, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He met his best friend and loyal wife, Marjorie, in 2001 and spent the last 23 years enjoying life with her at his side. They’re favorite pastime was going on weekend adventures together to discover new and out of the way places and eating at their favorite local spots. But of all the things he loved in life I would have to say that the things he loved most, weren’t things at all, they were his children, Morgan Danielle, Kristopher Kyle & bonus daughter, Lindsay Allison. He loved them fiercely and was extremely proud of the people they have become. His love for his family ran deep and there was nothing he would not do to help them along their way. The day Jimbo became a grandfather was one of his happiest days of all. Welcoming Ava Grace into the family brought him immense pride as did her sisters, Emily Gray, Kenzie Mae and Evelyn Rayne, doting over them at every opportunity. And though he can no longer be with them on this earth, he is no doubt watching over them from above. Jimbo is survived by his wife Marjorie McCarty, Sister, Debra Chamblee (Jimmy) children Morgan McMurry (Corey), Kyle McCarty (Autumn), Bonus daughter, Allison Cannon (Jared), grandchildren, Ava, Emily, Kenzie Eve McMurry, Nieces & Nephews, Luther & Eric Chamblee, Shelby, Savannah, Samantha & SJ, Micheal, Kimberly & Elizabeth. Evan, Brooklyn, Braxton, August, Silas, Phoenix, Elijah, Marshall, Clara. In-Laws, Edith Kimbrell, Michelle Pitt & Monica Scott (Stephen) Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Vada McCarty, father, James McCarty Sr., grandparents, Sylvester and Cora green, Maxwell McCarty and Mamie Lou Hastie. Service to be held on October 4th, 2024 at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation at 10:00 am, followed by graveside at Red Hill Cemetery at 12:00.
