Dennis Clinton “Denny” Hodge, 74, of Trussville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 28, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, Denny was the son of Clinton and Eunice Hodge. He lived a life defined by dedication to his family, hard work, lasting friendships, and a genuine love for the people around him. Denny is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Ann Hardegree Hodge; his children, Jamie Hodge, Cindy Orr (Jason), and DeAna Byrd; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan Orr, Sara Byrd, Lana Orr, and Bryce Byrd. He is also survived by his brother, Norman Hodge; his sisters, Jane Smith Hudson (Randy) and Nancy Gravelee; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Buddy Hodge; and his sister, Lynn Joiner. Denny leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. A passionate Alabama football fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Crimson Tide. Yet his greatest joy was found in being a grandfather. He never missed a game, recital, school program, or special event involving his grandchildren. Whether arriving with a thoughtful gift in hand or simply showing up to support them, he treasured every moment spent with the ones he loved most. Known for his warm personality and generous spirit, Denny had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and valued. He spent many years calling balls and strikes as a baseball umpire and later coordinating deliveries at Evans Meats, earning the respect and friendship of countless people along the way. No matter where he was, he brought humor, kindness, and a steady presence that put others at ease. Though known for his strength and dependability, Denny also had a tender heart. A handwritten card, a thoughtful note, or a simple expression of love could bring tears to his eyes—evidence of how deeply he cared for those around him. He understood the importance of family, friendship, and showing up for the people who mattered. Denny will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful friend, and a man whose life demonstrated the power of love, generosity, and presence. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his example will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in his life. The family finds comfort in knowing that while he will be deeply missed, the love he gave so freely will remain with them always. A celebration of life is being planned.
