Shirley Annette Mayo

July 11, 1942 - December 14, 2021

Shirley Annette Mayo, 79, of Clay, AL passed away on December 14, 2021 at her home in Pinson, AL. Shirley was born July 11, 1942 in Clay, AL to John and Virginia Elgin Trull. Shirley grew up in Pinson/Chalkville area all her life. She graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School and attended Jefferson State Jr. College with a degree in Data Processing. Shirley was first married to Donald McQueen, Sr. in June 29, 1963 in Birmingham, AL. They were married for 22 years before Don passed away on July 4, 1984. She then married Louis G. Mayo, Jr. on April 17, 1993 in Birmingham, AL. They were married for 28 years. Shirley and Louis were both members of Zamora Shrine Center where she was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Road Runners, and Vagabonds. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her Shriner’s group, and was a great fan of Alabama Football. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: John and Virginia Trull, brothers: Paul Trull, Sr. and Donald Trull (died in infancy), and first husband Donald McQueen, Sr. Shirley was survived by her husband Louis; son Bo (and wife Donza) McQueen; daughter Kimberly (Husband Albert) Reeves; stepdaughter Misty (husband Chris) Scott; stepson Graham (partner Kelly) Mayo; sister Brenda (husband Don) Barber; sister Tammy (husband John) Phillip; brother Chris Trull; and grandchildren Alex, Sam, Darby, Brittney, Chris, Haylee, Layden, and Peyton. Visitation and funeral services will be at 12-2 pm, December 18, 2021, at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home in 5360 Deerfoot Pkwy, Trussville, AL. Graveside service will be held at Elmwood cemetery 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Birmingham, AL following a procession to the cemetery.
