Richard Anthony Smith, age 64, of Trussville, passed away September 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Smith and Virginia Phillips and his sister Renee Gaither (Jackie). Richard is survived by his children, Jessica Sampy (Mamadou), Rachel Smith, Ryan Smith and Julie Headstrom (Tim); siblings, Regina Smith (Gary), Ricky Smith, Rhonda Guzman and Ronald Smith (Katharina); grandchildren, Lyric Poe, and Massila Sampy, Reyah Smith, Bycen, Elijah and Hayden Headstrom as well as his beloved companion Diana Dew. Richard was a jokester. He loved to make people laugh. He was a great conversationalist and never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed country music, karaoke, vacationing to Wisconsin and long island ice tea. He felt that anything that was worth doing was worth doing well. Richard gave 100% to his job, his family and his friends. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Visitation from 1-2pm. Chapel service will begin at 2pm with burial following in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Bishop Bruce LeVan will officiate.
