Martha Jane Roll

January 21, 1954 - January 2, 2021

Martha Jane Roll, 66 years of age, of Birmingham, Alabama, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend to many. Jane was known as a mighty prayer warrior and an example of Christ’s great love. Jane loved life and made everything an adventure - sharing stories and pictures with those around her. Her many interests included art, photography, gardening and a natural talent for painting – a skill passed on from her beloved mother-in-law, Honor Roll. She lived every day to the fullest - whether she was in the mountains out West, on the beaches of Florida or on her back patio watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee in her hand and her husband, Pat, by her side. Jane always had a smile on her face and a genuine hug to give. Her calming spirit and words of wisdom encouraged and strengthened those around her. She will be most remembered for her unconditional love, devotion to family and countless hours spent in prayer. Her life was a beautiful portrait of grace, perseverance and strength to all whose lives she touched. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Henry and Bessie Darden, and her in-laws, Harry and Honor Roll. Jane is survived by her adored husband, Pat Roll Sr.; her children, Patrick (Danika), James (Jennie), Jonathan (Rachel) and Daniel (Lauryn); her grandchildren, Skye, Eddie, Layne, Peyton, Kaden, Pierce, Nadia and Evelyn; her siblings, Elaine (Paul) Smith, Maryann Blomgren, Albert Darden, Dot “Dee” Tidwell, Henry (Robin) Darden Jr., Diane (Eddie) Nelson and Priscilla (Richard) Hughes; and many extended family and cherished friends. A celebration of life will be held at Life of Faith Church (965 Grantswood Trail Birmingham, AL 35210) on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).
