Margaret Ann Money

Margaret A. McCain 1944 - 2020 (Married to Larry Money 1995 – 2020 and Ronald Ray 1963 - 1970) On the afternoon of August 10th, 2020, Margaret Ann Money, née McCain, passed away at the age of 76 at the St. Vincent's East hospital in Birmingham, Alabama after a recent battle with pneumonia. Born to Marvin and Ann McCain on February 5th, 1944, Margaret was a Birmingham native. She graduated from Ensley High School and was a member of the Alabama Association of Future Nurses. A testament to her strength and independece, Margaret continued her education and worked a full-time job while being a single mother of two sons, Daniel and Franklin Ray. Margaret was joyful and adventurous, often taking her boys on drives just to see what was in the distance and letting Danny and Frank guide her back home. Margaret and her husband Larry Money, married August 1995, were active members of the Birmingham Grotto and the National Speleological Society. They loved helping with the annual meetings and were always there to greet newcomers with a smile. They also loved animals, and fed and cared for stray cats near their home. Margaret worked as a pharmacy technician for over 23 years at the University of Alabama at Birmigham Medical Center. She enjoyed the work and retired from her career after teaching new technicians what the job was all about. Margaret is remembered as being cheerful, spontaneous, and warmhearted. She brought light with her wherever she went. She is survived by her husband Larry, her sons Daniel and Frank, and her brother Joe. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
