April 9, 1934 - February 25, 2022
Margaret Tonnemacher Cosby, age 87, of Trussville was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 25, 2022. She was born on April 9, 1934. Margaret was preceded in death by husband, Billy Jack Cosby, parents, Floyd Tonnemacher and Blanche Childers Tonnemacher, brothers Charles (Doodle) Tonnemacher and Floyd (Cotton) Tonnemacher, sisters Inez Carter and Jean Brown and a dear nephew James (Blister) Carter. Margaret is survived by her only child, Kim Cosby Tillman and her husband Cecil Tillman, grandson, Brad Tillman and his wife Lynn Riddle Tillman, granddaughter, Kacie Tillman, and the lights of her life great-granddaughter, Ava Rae Tillman and great-grandson, Noah Tillman. She also loved her dedicated, spoiled rotten, best dog-friend, Henry. Margaret cherished her beloved brother-in-law Charlie Brown and so many special nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews whom she adored that filled her holidays and vacations with pure joy! Margaret was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Retiring from the Birmingham City Board of Education after working 30+ years as a bookkeeper, she filled her life with traveling, flower gardening (her real passion besides shopping at thrift stores and Dollar General), getting that hair done every Friday followed by breakfast with her Sunday School class and playing cards every Tuesday with her very special lady friends at church. She has attended Central Baptist Church in Trussville for 10 years and before that was a member of First Baptist Church Trussville for over 60 years. Margaret was the ‘Lucille Ball’ type of mother which filled our lives with humor, laughter and fun times all around. She was wise, and, you never wondered what she was thinking because she was a ‘tell it like it is’ kind of lady! She never met a stranger and would literally give them the shirt off her back and always, always made sure no one went hungry. She lived independently and ran her own business with the Cosby Apartments in Trussville right up until the end of her life. We praise God she was able to do that. Mother, you were truly one of a kind and we love you and already miss you so much. Give Jesus and daddy a hug for us. This not good bye, we’ll all see you soon! Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 11:30-1:30pm at Deerfoot Memorial Trussville. Following visitation there will be a precession to Jefferson Memorial Cemetery Trussville for a graveside service at 2:00pm.
