Herbert (Herb) Edgar Sherer of Springville, AL., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 22, 2020 surrounded by family. Herb was born in Tarrant, AL. and spent most of his childhood in the Inglenook area. Herb was self- employed, most notably in the dry cleaning and fast-food industries. Early on, Herb enjoyed Ham radio, Bluegrass music, Elvis recordings and was a fan of Alabama Football. Herb enjoyed music and could play several instruments including the guitar, banjo and piano, all by ear. Herb was a noted biscuit connoisseur and overall food critic, eager to provide unsolicited and often amusing reviews of various local eating establishments. He was a member of ONEeighty Church in Springville, AL., mostly attending online as his health declined. Herb is preceded in in death by his sister, Wanda Sherer, mother, Eugenia Odom, and father Neil Sherer. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha Swint Sherer of Springville, AL. He will be forever remembered by his children, Glenn Welden (Lee), Cindy Gast (Lenny), Carol Overton (Ronnie), Jamie St. John (Kenny), Timothy Sherer (Sonya), Joy Sherer-Blanton (BB), and Kenneth Sherer (Tammy) along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Herb is also survived by two brothers, Steven Sherer (Gail) and Danny Sherer, and a number of extended family members by marriage and his sweet dog Dixie. A celebration of Herb’s life will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020, at 2:00 PM at ONEeighty Church in Springville, AL. Gresh Harbuck, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Due to the unfortunate timing with the Covid-19 pandemic, no visitation will be held. As a precautionary measure of protection for all, the family would like to thank everyone in advance for wearing a facemask to the service and for practicing social distancing as much as possible. The burial will take place at Springville Cemetery immediately following the Service.
