Fred Lee Dunn III, 26, entered into eternity with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 4, 2020. He brought much joy and happiness to his friends and family during his short life and will be greatly missed. To know Fred was to love him. He had a servant’s heart and would do anything for anyone any time of the day or night. If you had a need, Fred would be there and would give you the shirt off his back. Fred could light up a room with his contagious smile. Fred was so loved and considered family by many friends. Born October 2, 1994 in Birmingham, AL, to Kathy and Fred Lee Dunn Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Hensley Dunn and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his father, Fred Lee Dunn Jr; sister, Rebecca (Tommy) Chandler; brothers, Forest (Tina) Berry, John Berry, Tommy (Denise) Greene; aunts, Sandra Edwards, Marty (Tom) Brady; cousins and many who considered him like a son and brother. Fred, also know as Scooter, graduated from Clay Chalkville High School in May, 2013. He was an outstanding football player. He played both offense and defense and loved the sport. His teammates and coaches could always depend on him for excellence. After high school, he attended Jefferson State College and was working on a degree in mechanical engineering. Fred was very mechanically gifted. He loved taking old broken down things and giving them life again. He had his own small engine repair business. Fred also loved animals, dogs, horses etc. He spend time loving and caring for them but one of his greatest gifts was his ability to connect to older people. From the time he was small, he loved talking and spending time with them. He gave them attention and made them feel special. Fred started working at Ace Hardware on Chalkville Mountain Rd when he was sixteen years old and continued to work there through high school and college. He made many friends there and had regular customers. Fred loved Mrs Brenda Betts, owner of Ace Hardware, and she considered him a son. Philippians 4:8 … whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. When thinking about Fred, there were so many ways he was true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. He made a difference in this world which Christ calls us to do. He knew Christ as his Savior and he is enjoying heaven now. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Crosspoint Church or Church of the Highlands. His memorial service is Friday, December 18, 2020, at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation from 5-6 and service at 6:00 pm.
