Donald Gordon Paul Jr

January 4, 1948 - July 14, 2020

Donald Gordon Paul, Jr., age 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 14, 2020 at his home in Trussville Alabama. Don was born January 4, 1948 to Freddie Stringfellow Paul and Donald G. Paul Sr. in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in Birmingham Alabama and graduated Woodlawn high school in 1965. Don obtained his Associate of Science degree at Jefferson State in 1975. Don was a firefighter, lieutenant, and a paramedic for 30 years. Don served in the Marine Corps as an E-5 Sergeant for 6 years July 1967 to July 1973. He was awarded firefighter of the year in 1989 and 1994 and nominated in 1970. He was the first firefighter to be awarded firefighter of the year twice. Don loved sports. Specifically, Alabama football. His favorite pastime is deer/turkey hunting and his love of archery. Don loved gardening and loved to watch his plants produce so that he could share with others. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna Frances Paul whom were high school sweethearts. Son Donald G. Paul III (Lisa) grandchildren Christopher and Ashley, Son Jeremy Scott Paul, son Kyle Hunter Paul, daughter Natalie Paul Miller (Daniel) grandchildren Tyler, McKenzie, Dylan and Noah. His fur buddy friend, Cody, and sister Judi Paul Julian (Ron). Don is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Michael Scott Paul. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 1:00 pm. Due to social distancing guidelines seating is limited. Masks are required. Bishop Cahoon will be officiating.
