September 1, 1957 - December 18, 2021
Deborah Elaine Schefano passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on December 18, 2021. She was born September 1, 1957 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky but resided most of her life in the Birmingham area. She loved her family more than anything in the world and was loved just as much by them in return. She never missed an opportunity for a family get together, there was no need for a special occasion. She was blessed with the gift of gab and never once met a stranger. She could truly make friends anywhere she went. Mrs. Schefano was a huge Alabama fan and loved Nascar. She loved to go to the beach but she was just as happy going to mountains. She had an incredibly soft spot for all animals. We would never be surprised to get a call saying she had a new baby because someone had found a stray that needed a home. That's just the kind of heart she had. She was the greatest advice giver as long as you were prepared for a straight answer. She was the epitome of what a mother and grandmother should be. Not to mention all the things she was to so many others. Losing her will forever leave a huge hole in our hearts, but we are so thankful that we can rest assured that we will see her again. Until that time may our precious Mama rest in peace and know how very much she is loved and missed every second of every day. Mrs. Schefano is survived by her children, Melanie Jennings, Bubba Poe (Paula), Lisa Poe (Brian), Mandy Payne (Mark); Her father, Richard Potts; Her step father Ray Bechtold; Brothers, Bruce Spinks (Dena), Michael Potts (Irene), and Raymond Bechtold(Ashlee); 10 Grandchildren, John Wesley Jennings, William Holloway (Merri), Drew Poe(Niki), Austin Holloway, Skyler Gresham, Kassidy Payne, Ethan Jennings, Jacob Poe, Elliot Neal and Tayler Gresham; 7 Great grandchildren, Hunter Poe, Liam Poe, Maisyn Holloway, Madisyn Holloway, Cole Baird, Remmy Holloway, and AJ Holloway. And a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. And special friend, George Loughner. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Schefano, her children Larkin and Kelly Poe, her mother Sarah Bechtold, Grandmother Nelly Spinks, Grandson Max Payne, and Brother Terry Spinks. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Must Love Paws Rescue in Trussville, AL in honor of Deborah Schefano.
