Chester Nelson Barnett

January 8, 1933 - March 4, 2022

Chester Nelson Barnett, age 89, of Pinson, Al. formerly of Cordova, Al. passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2022. He was born on Jan. 8,1933 in Cordova, Al. to Lone Barnett Sr. and Willie Ann Taylor Barnett. Chester (Nelson) was a graduate of Cordova High School and Howard College (Bachelors In business administration). He also served in the U.S. Army. Chester was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. In May 1956 he married Patsy Russell and together raised three daughters. Chester (Nelson) retired from Burlington Northern railroad formerly Frisco Railroad after 43 ½ years of service. After the loss of his first wife, Chester (Nelson) married Willene Sartin of Pinson in 2001 and was presently married at the time of his passing. Chester (Nelson) is preceded in death by his wife Pasty Russell Barnett, daughter Cathy Barnett Craft, Parents Lone and Willie Barnett, Sisters: Rosie Kilpatrick, Elsie Hallman, Dean Vanhorn, Brothers; William Barnett, Lone Barnett Jr. He is survived by Wife Willene Heath Barnett, his daughters; Cindy Sides (Eddie), Christy Knighton (Steve); Son in- Law Jim Craft; Stepsons; Ted Sartin, Mike Sartin (Robyn), Stan Sartin (K.C.) grandchildren; Lindsey Sides Stepp (Jason), Logan Sides (Amy) , Jordan Craft (Laura) , Justin Craft, Luke Knighton (Madison), John Michael Knighton; Step grandchildren Corley Sartin Tickle (David), Jake Sartin, Emma Sartin Goodman (Anthoni), Ellyn Sartin Ennis (Jonathan), Evan Sartin, Bailey Sartin, Anna Sartin, Raegan Sartin; seven great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces. Visitation is Monday, March 7th from 5-7 P.M. at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday March 8th at 11 a.m. at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Al. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery in Barney, Al. with Bro. Larry Smith officiating.
