Ambers Johnson Self Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ambers Johnson Self “A.J.”, of Pinson, Alabama, age 80, Passed away on July 15th. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ewen Self, his brother DeWight Self, one son Brian Mitchell. He is survived by two brothers, Larry Self (Peggy), Gary Self, his children, Barry Mitchell, and Beth (Arnold) Cherry. He was a loving Uncle to his three nieces, Robyn Langford, Dawn Bowman, Amanda Bohannon. Two nephews, Dwight Self, Chuck Self. And a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Amber Mitchell, grandson, Daniel Mitchell, and his great-granddaughter MaKenzy Mitchell. And several cousins and very dear friends. He was retired from Innovative Machine Corp., where he was a Field Service Tech While working there, he enjoyed the traveling to other countries to work. He graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1961. And he was a long-time member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Pinson. He was a devoted loving father, brother, and uncle. He loved Auburn football, hunting and camping at Lake Guntersville with his daughter and family. He loved flying airplanes and riding motorcycles. He could always put a smile on your face every time he entered the room. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He was one of the greatest people you could ever have in your life. The funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on August 13th at Hopewell Baptist Church in Pinson. With burial following. Visitation is from 11:00AM to 12:00PM on August 13th.
