Allen W. Thornton, age 76, of Springville, Alabama was called home and is resting in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. He was a retired Birmingham Police Officer also retired from PEMCO Aeroplex. Allen was a minister at 50th Street Baptist Church in Woodlawn and started Community Bible Church in 1984 in Trussville, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen Thornton; sons, Allen W. Thornton Jr. (Elizabeth) and Stephen Thornton (Eve); grandchildren, Amber Owens (Jeremy), Alyssa Waters (Chris), Tya Miller (Hollie), Holli Thornton, Taylor Anne Thornton and Steve Thornton; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Hattilene Plough and Sarah Kay Bennington and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorial service will be on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Central Baptist Church in Argo, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the church. Rev. Dewey Corder will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to MS Foundation or Central Baptist Church.
