Kathy Sivley Mayfield

Kathy Sivley Mayfield, 72, of Leeds, AL, went to be with her Savior on June 3, 2025, with her son by her side. Our beloved ‘Gigi’, Kathy was born in 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama, and had one older sister. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, James R. “Ronny” Mayfield, who recently passed away on April 2, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Javan Lowell Sivley and Mary Jane St. Clair Sivley, and older sister Linda Sivley Harding, all of Birmingham. She is survived by her son Brandon Mayfield, daughter-in-law Melissa Mayfield, and three granddaughters who were the light of her life, Ella, Evie, and Zoey Mayfield, of Hoover, AL. She is also survived by her two loving nephews, Dr. Rev. Chris Harding (Kym), and family, of Lenoir City, TN, and Scott Harding (Leigh Ann), of Jasper, AL. Kathy graduated from West End High School in 1971 and upon graduation attended Jacksonville State University. Upon returning to Birmingham in 1972, Kathy met and married the love of her life, Ronny Mayfield, and immediately began working in the banking industry, which ultimately became her lifelong career and passion. Kathy held a variety of roles early in her career, beginning at First National Bank of Birmingham as an Assistant in the Commercial Loan Department. After gaining valuable experience and working with both commercial and consumer customers, she was eventually handpicked to move into Retail Banking where she would spend the majority of her career. Kathy served in Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager roles for over twenty-five (25) years at the Chalkville Branch of AmSouth Bank, which later became Regions Bank. During her career, she was a trusted partner and invaluable resource to her customers, colleagues, and peers, while also serving as a key leader and dedicated team member who mentored some of the best banking leaders in the Birmingham communities where she served. Kathy retired from Regions Bank in 2017, the culmination of a stellar forty-five (45) year career that included multiple sales and leadership awards, all while patiently serving the countless customers who relied on her guidance, advice, and expertise. Throughout her career, Kathy always remained steadfast in her love for her family and others. She was a dedicated wife, mom, and employee, and her love and passion for both her family and her career allowed her to become a successful and proven leader known for her sound financial advice and common sense approach to everything she did. She built countless life-long friendships and relationships with her colleagues, customers, bank partners, and business leaders, all while maintaining a caring, supportive and loving home for her family. She was always willing to go the extra mile to make others feel special and valued, and she cherished those lifelong friendships and relationships. Kathy will forever be remembered for her humor and quick wit, kind and compassionate heart, calming and encouraging spirit, tireless work ethic, dedication, and the legacy of countless lives she impacted. Her customers and colleagues became not only friends but family, and many would routinely call her at home for guidance, support, or to just say hello.. In her free time, Kathy enjoyed shopping, lunch dates with her husband, talking with friends, and anything that involved spending time with her family, including her three granddaughters whom she dearly loved. A friend to many, Kathy led by example and was always willing to step in and do whatever was needed to help a friend or neighbor, and she was never too busy for a phone call or to provide love and encouragement. She was the epitome of a strong, intelligent, and courageous woman who knew how to take charge and lead others with grace and compassion. While our earthly bodies will fail us over time, as believers, we trust in our eternal healing. Kathy persevered and never lost her positive spirit and determination, even in the most difficult circumstances. A Celebration of Life gathering to remember and honor Kathy and her life will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, in the Chapel at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood. Visitation will be from 11:00am – 12:00pm and Service from 12:00 – 1:00pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookwood Hospital, Encompass Lakeshore, and Brookdale University Park for their love, kindness, compassion, and professional care and support.
