Jo Ann Baxter

JoAnn Grogan Baxter, 91, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2024. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on February 22, 1933 and resided there for the majority of her life. She had recently moved to Mobile, Alabama, to be near to her son and daughter-in-law. She attended NorthPark Baptist Church, formerly Robuck Park Baptist Church, for 65 years and was currently a member of Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. She is now gloriously reunited with her husband of 70 years Tommy and their son Wayne. She is also preceded in death by her mother Julia Grogan, sister Carolyn Perricotti and brother George Grogan. She is survived by her son Danny Baxter, wife Cindy, daughter-in-law Debbie Baxter Lowe, grandson Justin Baxter, granddaughters Brittney Baxter Horne (Clint), Bradey Baxter Lang (Mark) and great-grandchildren, Hadley and Maverick Horne and soon to be Rosie Jo Lang. JoAnn retired after working many years with the Mountain Brook, Tarrant City and Pell City Board of Educations and served as the Pastors secretary for 20 years at the Roebuck Park and Hilldale Baptist Churches. Jo Ann was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and served for many years in the Special Needs and Children’s Ministries. She loved her many friends at NorthPark and missed them dearly after her move to Mobile. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the physicians and nurses at Saads Home Health and inpatient care, The Retreat, for their kind and compassionate care over these past months and recent days. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the many friends of NorthPark Baptist Church and Woodridge Baptist Church for their love, prayers and support. You are invited to celebrate her life Friday, January 17, 2024 at NorthPark Baptist Church, 5700 Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville, AL. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00PM with a service celebrating her life and honoring her Lord immediately following.
