Jerald Wilson November 1, 1943 – August 22, 2026 Jerald Wilson, age 82, was reunited with his wife of 50 years and got to see his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ face to face on August 22nd . He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Almeda; sister and brother-in-law Dontis and Gordon; and his beloved wife Marla. He is survived by his best friend and brother Warren (Peggy); daughter April (Drew) and grandsons Graham, Collier with grandson #3 coming soon; sister-in-law Glenda (Dale); brother-in-law Dean (Mary); and his niece, nephew and great-nieces and nephew. Jerald spent much of his life as an educator, school administrator, and pastor but mostly as a true friend to many and to Jesus. He had a lasting impact on all he encountered in the nearly six decades he worked, ministered, and taught the Word of God. His former students were such an important part of his life, and he constantly reflected and shared stories of them. Jerald was a committed leader in the church, in his school and in his family. God gave him the gift of teaching – math was his thing – but sharing the love of Jesus and truth of God’s Word with others was his passion and life’s mission. After retiring from his professional career, Jerald lovingly led multiple Bible Studies throughout the week to further the Kingdom of God. He loved the church and appropriately spent his last week on earth leading his Bible study on Sunday morning and visiting with friends at Metro’s Midweek meal and Bible study on Wednesday night. Jerald was known for his loud, booming voice, but was the most kind and generous person you would ever meet. He really was a jack of all trades and more than met the eye. He carried a pastoral presence, and knew the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, but could also tell you almost any tidbit of sports trivia you could ever want to know. His favorite hobbies were any that allowed him to be outside including tending his very large garden, doing any sort of yard work, and traveling across the country to visit the Western United States, which he truly thought was the most beautiful place on earth and God’s ultimate handiwork. Heaven’s gain is our loss and he leaves a large hole in the hearts of all who knew him. We are rejoicing he is reunited with Marla and Jesus and are so thankful for the personal impact he had in our lives and the kingdom impact he made for God. Jerald was very generous with the Lord’s blessings, regularly supporting numerous charities and individuals throughout his lifetime. Honoring Jerald in this way will continue his legacy of faithful giving. A celebration of life service will be held at Metropolitan Church in Birmingham, AL on Friday, August 28, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, AL.
