Jeanette McGahey

August 3, 1936- October 16, 2023 Jeanette McKee McGahey, 87, of Pinson was called home on October 16, 2023. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dale, her parents, Ervin and Bernice McKee, sister, Inez Long of Pinson, and brother, Jimmy McKee of Hayden. She is survived by her three children Jeff (Sandy) McGahey of Pinson, Kerri (Donnie) Jones of Jasper, Laurie (Richard) of Pocomoke, MD, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother, Ken (Nancy) McKee, sister Jean (Larry) Cox, many loving nieces and nephews, and her loyal companion, Marlo along with the OWLS, who she passionately loved. Jeanette was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Pinson for many years, serving in many positions, but her most favorite, the flower committee, in which she spent many hours decorating the church for Sunday morning services. Her most precious project of all was creating the church prayer garden for others to have a place to talk with the Lord. Ganny, as many knew her, had a heart for connecting with others. She was kind and welcoming to every person she encountered and never met a stranger, the epitome of a true southern lady. She was always open to having a new friend. She had a way of making people feel loved and accepted, even adding new friends until her last days. She lived a Godly life that honored Jesus, and all could see His countenance upon her. Her capacity to love people for who they are is the heart-of-Jesus-legacy for which she’ll be remembered. The celebration of Jeanette’s life will be Friday, October 20 th at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services at 11am, visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of our Gan to First Baptist Church of Pinson’s Prayer Garden. We would like to give special thanks to the Enhabit Hospice team and Gan’s beloved nurse, Jessica. Our hearts are deeply saddened at the thought of life without her. So many corners of our home remind us of our Gan; little odds and ends that she probably found at a flea market somewhere off the beaten path. As her family, we have abundant peace about where she is now- whole and healed- but, please pray for comfort for her family and friends who will miss her dearly.
