Catherine "Bunny" Spinks

Catherine Elizabeth Bean Spinks, lovingly known as “Bunny,” passed away peacefully on February 7, at the age of 72 surrounded by loving family. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family and community. Bunny was the beloved wife of Charles Wyndal Spinks, with whom she shared 50 cherished years of marriage, adventure, and unwavering love. Together, they found joy in camping trips, traveling, and sharing their faith. A devoted mother, Bunny is survived by her children, Andrew W. Spinks (Stephanie Harper Spinks) and Stacey Spinks Turner (T. Robert Turner, Jr.). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Coraline Turner, Harper Spinks, and Shepherd Spinks, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Bunny spent her career as a dedicated teacher, shaping young minds with patience and care. She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Pinson, where she found deep fulfillment in singing with the church choir, participating in mission trips, and serving her community. Her creativity shone through in her love of painting ceramics with dear friends and she was happiest working in the kitchen cooking and baking with and for friends and family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, someone who gave freely from the heart in both act and love. Her warmth, kindness, and faith were a guiding light to all who knew her. Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Catherine Bean, her brother Jimbo Bean, and father-in-law, IW Spinks. To celebrate Bunny’s life and legacy, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at 10 am at First Baptist Church of Pinson, located at 4036 Spring St, Pinson, AL 35126. A visitation will take place on Monday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pall Bearer: George Chitty, Master Sergeant, US Air Force. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the First Baptist Church of Pinson Adult Choir Fund, a place that brought her so much joy and fulfillment. She was well-loved in life and will be remembered always.
